Certificate Course in Nanobiotechnology and Advanced Biological Techniques

1. Introduction and Overview of Nanobiotechnology

This module provides an introduction to nanobiotechnology, emphasizing the design, synthesis, and application of nanoscale materials within biological systems. It explores nano–bio interactions and highlights practical applications in drug delivery, biosensing, antimicrobial systems, precision agriculture, environmental remediation, and advanced biomaterials.

2. High-Throughput Sequencing and Multivariate Data Analysis

This module covers next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and approaches for large-scale biological data generation. Participants will gain an understanding of microbial community profiling, metagenomics, and omics-based analyses. The module introduces bioinformatics workflows, diversity metrics, and multivariate statistical tools for interpreting complex datasets. Exposure to the QIIME 2 microbiome multi-omics data science platform will enable participants to perform sequence processing, taxonomic classification, and ecological analysis.

3. Sample Preparation for High-Throughput Molecular Analysis

4. Molecular and Phenotypic Fingerprinting for Microbial Identification

This module introduces molecular and phenotypic fingerprinting techniques for accurate microbial identification. Participants will learn DNA-based methods such as 16S rRNA gene sequencing for bacteria and ITS region analysis for fungi, along with functional phenotyping approaches, including BIOLOG-based metabolic profiling. By integrating genotypic and phenotypic tools, the module enables reliable microbial classification and assessment of functional traits for environmental, industrial, and biotechnological applications.

5. Practical Training in Advanced Laboratory and Bioprocess Techniques

This hands-on module provides practical training on key laboratory instruments and bioprocess systems commonly used in nanobiotechnology and molecular biology research. Participants will gain experience with bioreactors, PCR and RT-PCR systems, gel electrophoresis, imaging and documentation systems, and microplate reader, fluorescence and confocal microscopy.
